Pushed Back

Unfortunately, the shoot today was postponed until next Sunday so I have nothing to share tonight from that.

Guess who came over to our house tonight for the very first time. It was Lacey! Same old story with Lacey chasing Bailey. I caught this moment of peace but 1.2 seconds after the last picture, Lacey was jumping on Bailey and Bailey was running away.

It's The Little Things

I recently started using StatCounter to track hits and stats on my blog. Now, I know this is just a small drop in the bucket, but it makes me really happy to announce that my little blog has gotten 500 hits since I started tracking a couple weeks ago! It's the little things that make me happy. I just wanted to say 'Thank You' to the people that keep checking in. I'm really excited about the next couple of weeks and I promise to keep the blog updated as much as possible. Since I've sent out my link to friends and family, I pretty much know who some of the hits are. However, there are a few that have really baffled me. Brazil, Vienna, Calgary...? I guess they will remain mysteries!

Public Service Announcement

Hey everyone:

I’m reaching out to my family and friends looking for a few good models. If you are getting this email, you’ve already seen my photo blog – which I’m sure you check everyday (wink, wink). It should be no surprise that I want to keep learning and developing my photography skills. This is where YOU come in.

I have a ton of fun, great ideas that I want to try out. Whether you want pictures of just yourself, your family, with your significant other…why not take me up on this offer to have your own private photographer for a photo shoot. I promise you won’t be disappointed. Remember, there doesn’t need to be a special occasion to have your pictures taken.

This is part of the email I sent out to my family and friends a couple of nights ago in order to get some practice in and let out some of the ideas that have been floating around in my head. So far I have had a great response to the email and have several sessions scheduled. Friends and Family: YOU ROCK! Thank you so much to those of you that sent kind words and having faith in me taking your pictures. I can't wait to start this round of sessions. My first one is this Sunday so stay tuned for lots of pictures and a couple of exciting things in the coming weeks!

If I missed anyone in the email and are interested in a session, comment this post or email me at OrtizCarolina1@gmail.com.

Bailey's Nemesis

I'm happy to share that we have a new addition to the family. Bailey has a new two month old little cousin named Lacey! She's really adorable and to say she's full of life is an understatement. Her world so far consists of playing, eating, sleeping and tormenting Bailey! Even though Bailey outweighs Lacey by a full six pounds, little Lacey jumps on her, pounces at her, and steals her toys. Bailey's saving grace is that Lacey can't jump on the couch yet, so she sits there and barks down at her like the queen of the castle. It's quite hilarious. I think they will soon get along just fine. In the meantime, Alex has dubbed Lacey 'Bailey's Nemesis'.

World meet Lacey. Here she is in her little bed playing with a toy she stole from Bailey. Not pictured is Bailey, probably 2 feet away, staring at her toy but doing absolutely nothing about it! Earlier in the day, Lacey took the smiling pink toy from Bailey and started playing with it. When Lacey tired of it and put it down, Bailey snatched it up, jumped on Grandma's bed, and left the toy there for most of the day. I don't know what she's going to do once Lacey starts jumping everywhere.

Here she is after a long day, knocked out and down for the count.

Welcome to the family and the blog Lacey! Even though she doesn't show it just yet, Bailey looooves you!

Happy Easter everyone!

Bienvenidos A Miami

It has been a crazy busy week and I've had no time to update the blog. For Valentine's Day, I got Alex tickets to a Jay-Z concert (his favorite artist of all time!). Yesterday we made the drive down to Miami for the show. Even though Miami is only a quick 4 hour drive from home; it couldn't feel further away from Tampa. The nightlife, the beautiful women, the uber-expensive cars..everywhere! I gotta say I kind of love it. We had the absolute BEST time at the concert. We had 5th row seats, but that didn't matter, everyone was standing the entire time. Security made us go back to the car to drop off our point and shoot; they wouldn't allow it inside. However, there was a girl next to us that was able to sneak one in, we gave her our info and hopefully she will send them over so I can post them here. We just got back to our hotel from the show. I plan on sleeping in tomorrow until they kick us out of here. This was the perfect ending of a long week and beginning of the weekend!

South Beach nightlife in full swing.

The concert was at a hall in South Beach. We parked our car in a $1 an hour garage and when we came back, a brand new cherry red convertible Bentley was in the spot next to us...in the $1 an hour garage...I guess times really are tough!

Time - 7:39 PM

This is the exact time the sun set today on Pass-A-Grille, Florida. It marked the end of a great weekend with friends at the beach. I'm super tired so I will leave you with what I saw today at around 7:39 PM.

"If You're Tired of New York, You Take A Napa, You Don't Move To Napa!"

I, like every other red blooded 20-something, looovveee Sex and The City! With a passion. So much so I can't even bring myself to watch the edited version on TBS. It's just not the same without their 'colorful' language, for lack of a better term. So unless you have been living under a rock, you know that the movie is coming out soon. I have a feeling that the series will always be better than the movie. (I feel like all you book snobs out there that always say the book is better than the movie!) The series ending was perfect. Carrie and Big found love in Paris, Charlotte and Harry finally got their baby, Miranda became the wife and mother she never thought she would be, and Samantha and Smith..well..let's just say they made beautiful music together!

I did a random YouTube search for the trailer, which I haven't seen on tv..and guess what! There is one out there! This was a MUST blog entry. I love minute 2:02! So here it is: The Sex and the City movie trailer...

The main reason I'm blogging about this is to warn my girlfriends and anyone else who wants to join, that this movie will be an event. Mainly because, well, I'm making it an event! Expect martinis at my house, pick out some killer shoes and outfit - we're painting the town red! We might be the most fashionable people at the movie theater that day - aside from the glamazons on the screen of course. Expect evites closer to the date. And of course, no boys allowed.

Sidenote: After I posted the Project Runway entry and stated that I was talking to my 2 faithful readers, 2 more people stepped up and told me they were faithful readers too! So my stock has gone up and now I'm talking to my 4! faithful readers. Wooo! Are there any more takers out there? Leave me a comment and make me smile!

Guess Who's Back

Woohoo! Alex is back from Prague with tons of stories and pictures. Feels good not being home alone! As promised, here is a "Best of" of my favorite pictures from his trip. CAUTION: A whole lotta pictures!

Narodni Galerie in Old Town Square - I love the reflection of the blue and white sky on the glass

The Square of the Knights of the Cross. The statue in the middle is of King Charles IV

Saint Vitus Cathedral in the middle of Prague Castle

Old Town Square with The Church of Our Lady Before Tyn in the background

Inside the metro. I personally love the lines in this picture. Doesn't it look futuristic?

Alex *hearts* sloooooow shutter speed

...and night shots! Powder Gate, the entrance to Old Town.

On the Charles Bridge, camera on the floor!

The National Museum in Wenceslas Square

Day trip to Karlovy Vary. Gorgeous!

I'm sure this reflection shot was for me! Grandhotel Pupp in the background, Karlovy Vary

Hope you enjoyed them as much as I did!

Make It Work

Did you guys catch the finale of Project Runway? I'm talking to my 2 faithful readers out there. I love this show! I wanted either Chris March or Christian Siriano to win. Chris freaked out the judges with his use of human hair in his designs, so that went out the window. As soon as I saw Christian's first look, I knew he was going to win. The crowd went wild when he stepped on stage. I can't believe he is only 21 years old. Pretty amazing. It's bittersweet that it's over because now I have to wait months before the next season to watch one of my favorite shows. Who doesn't love Tim Gunn and Heidi Klum? This was the clincher for me:

Oh and can I just say that I *heart* Victoria Beckham..she's FIERCE and FABULOUS!

Auf Wiedersehen

One More Look Back

A year ago today, Alex and I were jetting off on our honeymoon to Thailand. All I have to say is..best vacation EVER! We spent a few days in Bangkok, then flew to Phuket for a couple more days and ended the trip in Ko Phi Phi Don. The entire trip was amazing, the people, the scenery, the culture. Plus we met some very cool people from England while in Phi Phi Island that we still keep in touch with and will hopefully see very soon!

Taken at the JW Marriott Phuket Resort and Spa.

Isn't it beautiful? Wish I was there right this second! Maya Bay, site where the movie 'The Beach' was filmed.

It was a rainy and kind of ugly day today in Tampa so I had more indoor ring light fun with Ammie. I tried something different in post and played with textures...

Special Delivery

My husband rocks! I got flowers from him today for our anniversary...but not just any flowers, he sent me vase of green cymbidium orchids. From the previous post you can see that we used the same flower at our wedding. How thoughtful was that?!

By Your Side

One year ago today marked the beginning of a new chapter in my life. After years of anticipation (mostly by our mothers, not too much by us!), months of preparation and days of little sleep, Alex and I were married March 3rd, 2007. It was a truly perfect day. Maybe not perfect by others standards being that we had to move our ceremony from outside to inside the day before because of rain. But perfect for us. We added a lot of personal touches to our wedding but we knew that at the end of the day, those things didn't matter. As long as the people we cared about and loved us were there, everything else would fall into place.

The ceremony was pretty much comedy hour. I can't believe I didn't shed a tear during our vows. Don't get me wrong, my eyes were really welling up and I was about to break down until the officiant asked me to repeat 'for richer or for poorer' and I stumbled on the 'poorer' part. Our 200+ audience erupted into laughter (at least the Spanish speaking ones), and so did I!

The reception was one big party. I'm not kidding, I didn't sit down once after we had dinner. It felt like everyone was on the dance floor the entire night! That was the goal.

To everyone that helped out in any way, I want to say Thank You once again.
To Alex: even though you aren't physically here, please know that I'm 'By Your Side'. I love you more each and every day. I can't wait to celebrate 5, 10, 25, 50 years with you! You are THE one. Happy Anniversary!

With our wonderful wedding party..

The theme of the night..

Our beautiful cakes (we had 19 total!) and table assignment candles..

Everyone dancing!..

"Do You Realize You're 27 Years Old?"

Shortly after I found out Alex would be going out of town..I planned a little sleepover with my friends Maria and Kym for this past Saturday night. We started the night with take-out then made a couple of mojitos (yummy!). Then we somehow reverted to grade school mentality and played dress up, put on lots and lots of make-up for absolutely no reason and took a ton of pictures. I had sooo much fun! Afterwards we planted ourselves on the couch to watch a movie but we barely made it to the middle and called it a night around 3AM. You can't get much crazier than that! When I told Alex how our night went, he said "Do You Realize You're 27 Years Old?". He just doesn't get it.

In the midst of all this, I actually got a pretty stunning picture of Kym. I'm kind of loving it. This was using my ring light, which I need to used a lot more because I really love it.

To those wondering..she just pushed the strap of her shirt down..so don't get any ideas!
